Change

Do you seek the answers of tomorrow
Do you sing every song in your way
Do you dance to this rithim
Do you color your own mind
Do you let the wind take you away
Do you walk through the lands
Do you even look beyond

- ?? -

Listen, there is a new melody
Hear, the wind has changed
See, the colors are brighter now
Feel, shapes are not what they seem
Patience, asnwers will come across
On your way to freedom

The Owl

The nightfall, never seemed so sudden. Just a glance, a wide beam of sunlight, gave the sky an emerald blur. The stars of the North returned once more. Her cream colored bill hidden in the camouflaged feathers. Attempting to put them in the right place. A shiver down her spine and she stared into the darkness. Revealing the mysteries of the night. Eyes pouring fire-blaze, she never closed them. Looking up to the sky, searching for the stories behind the glinstering lights. The silver moon was broken, weakend she shone above the forest. Were the creatures of the night, were wandering around. A cold wind from the West, changed the game of the hunters. Running around, swiftly moving. She watched them from her branch, endlessly. She could do this forever. But she knew it was time. Taking a breath, shivering her body and her feet moved up and down for a few seconds. Then she spread her wings, showing the beautiful paterns to the world. But no one was there to see it, just the creatures of the night. They payed attention to this animal of wisdom. She moved her wings swiftly up and down. Around the branches, up to the sky. With a little bit of fog following her tail, she rised above the forest. She floated on thin air. Making a path through the white fog. It was silent now. Like they were waiting, as if they knew what was coming. Where was she going? What was her destination on this dreadful night? But she soared restless, making not a sound as she moved on. On to the highest tree, somewhere in this forest. She used her wings to land savely at the top of the tree. She blinked and looked over the forest, her domain. Then she looked up to the sky and the fog disappeared. Now she could see the stars. For ages humans stared at these stars just like she stares at them right now. But there is a difference. Humans don't search for the Tales of the stars. They only look at them as if they are objects, nothing more than a small piece of the Sun, born in dust. But the Owls know the Tales of the stars and they can tell them like no other creature can and will ever do. She concentrated her eyes at the sky. And then she raised her voice. Telling the entire forest of ancient stories. There on the treetop, where old myths will be revealed. Humans of tomorrow: stars don't prodict the future, stars tell myths of wise lessons that will be learnt again. It's the mysterious bond between animal and nature.
The Owl and the Stars.

Statues

Do you ever have the feeling you don't know someone at all?
Have you ever met a person who has a heart of stone?
A person that you can't get to.
You never really know what he or she feels and thinks.
About you.

Well I met a guy who is exactly like that. And I have to tell you, I don't really get along with him. I call them 'statues'. To me, they are made out of stone. It might sound weird, maybe even harsh, but it's true. Usually, I can feel or.. notice how a person feels. The minute there is something going on, I 'smell' it. But you won't be able to tell that I notice these kind of things, because I simply won't let you. Hehe...
Anyway, back to Mr. Statue. When I first spoken to him, well it's weird. He's treats you as if you are air. It's like you're not even able to touch him, like there's an invisible sheild around him. NO ONE can touch him. That's how he acts, anyway. If he gets angry, you don't want to be near him. And boy, he gets pissed! Like this one time, I forgot about something. And the minute I told him, it was like thunderclouds came out of nowhere. I would've ran away if I could! But... his face.. he stayed cool. But also silent. And that's what statues do, right. They are cool, cold, silent, unable to move. It freaks you out. But their faces. They can tell stories that remind you of why they are statues. If they would come alive, it would be like a nightmare coming true. Because no matter how hard you try, no matter what you say, statues can't be stopped. And they won't walk with you, holding you hand and sing songs about the bees and the birds. You are nothing but air to them... just air.
Unexpectable. Another word that truely fits their personality. Like this afternoon, I called him. And... waw! After I hung up the phone, there was this weight on my shoulders and it was just gone! He was actually friendly! To me... so I figured he was having a good day. You know, one of those days everything goes smoothly. But then...
I had to come to his office. You know, to take care of some stuff. So I went down there and the one second I saw him, walking. The one second I looked him in the eye. He didn't look back. I was air again.
I don't get along with statues...
So now you're probably curious who this guy is? I'll tell you. It's ... my boss.

The world of strangers

Where does it come from? This quest?
This need to solve life's mysteries when the simplest of questions can never be answered.
Why are we here? What is the soul? Why do we dream?
Perhaps we'd be better off not looking at all. Not delving, not yearning.
But that's not human nature, not the human heart. That is not why we are here.
Yet still we struggle to make a difference, to change the world, to dream of hope.
Never knowing for certain who we will meet along the way.
Who among the world of strangers will hold our hand. Touch our hearts.
And share the pain of trying.

Sky Dancers

A story by Joost van Noppen and Maaike Ross

Chapter 1
Avalar

Once upon a time, there was a mighty kingdom. The King married a beautiful lady. Lady Avalar was her name. Her crystal blue eyes and long brown hair were magic to him. And there was not a day he could imagen himself without her, not one day. Then there was a night, this quiet night, where the queen went to go for a walk, like she always did. She would watch the beautiful sunset, prodict the next day and gaze at the shapes of the magnificent dragons, soaring near the horizon. Her white evening dress, decorated with golden lines and patches, waved with the rithim of the wind. She would close her eyes and stretch her arms. She would spin around and sing a wonderful melody. Life enjoyer, day dreamer, she was everything she wanted to be, as she just stood there, still watching the sun.

She wouldn't have opend them, if she didn't hear the sound. Her eyes looked to the left. She heard the wind, heading for a strange direction, making strange movements. If she had more time, Lady Avalar would've discovered that, in fact, it wasn't the wind itself. It were wings, moving up and down. A roawr, loud breathing. She still looked to the left. Something was coming, from the woods, but she couldn't see it. When suddenly trees moved out, smashed to the ground. Avalar lay down quickly as she felt the wind strongly. Two beasts soared through the sky. A battle passing by, right in front of her nose. Dragons don't fight for no reason, there was something going on. But she had no time to find out, for there was something falling from the sky. Avalar quickly rised and tried to catch it. But before she could, she saw that the object, whatever it was, was rather big. Still, she spread her arms and fell down again as she catched it. She looked at it, and saw that it was shaped like an egg. And she felt that there was something moving inside. Gently, Lady Avalar lay the egg on the soft grass. For a few seconds she looked to the right, were the two dragons were still fighting. She couldn't see the colors, because the sun was almost down and the darkness would cover the kingdom within a few minutes. Then she turned to the egg again, and she touched it. Avalar saw a crack. But didn't know if it was there because of the fight, or because there was a new life about to start. Suddenly she heard a noise, it came from inside the egg. There were more movements. She didn't know why it happend, but her heart went faster and faster. She looked to the right again. The dragons were clearly fighting because of this egg. Avalar looked at it and saw the crack was bigger this time. She heard the noises of the fight coming closer and turned her head. Now she could see one of the dragons, with a dark skin, escaping from the fight. Quickly she looked at the egg again and saw that there was now a small hole in it. A loud, angry sound made Lady Avalar turn around. The dragon with the dark skin approached her. His enormous wings moved as he opend his mouth and made a terrifying sound. Everyone could've heard it, but no one was around to help her. Avalar glanced at the egg guickly and saw that it was empty. She started to look around very fast. Near her leg she found the small dragon, trying to crawl away. When suddenly Lady Avalar understood that it was him, the enormous, dark dragon was after. She knew the dark dragon was close enough to grab her with his claws, so she quickly grabbed the little dragon and jumped aside, leaving the empty egg not far from her. She closed her eyes and pushed the little dragon close to her body. She heard how the dark dragon crushed into the ground and one of his wings hit Avalar's head. The dragon made angry noises and moved his wings in order to fly up before the mother of the egg would attack him again. Lady Avalar rubbed her head for a moment, but didn't give much attention to her headache. Quickly she stands up, holds the little dragon even closer and starts to run away. She didn't know why, and she didn't know where to. All she knew was that she had to get away from this fight. She heard how the two dragons were fighting again, but she kept running. The palace was too far, so Lady Avalar decided to run into the woods and find shelter. But she stopped running when she heard something strange. Avalar turned around once more and saw that the dark dragon had defeated the mother of the egg. She was shocked by the fact that the little dragon had no one but her and that she was on her own now. Before the dark dragon could notice Lady Avalar, she hid herself and the little dragon behind a tree. She held onto the little dragon and tried not to make a sound. She was too scared to breathe because she knew the dark dragon was moving and looking for her. She felt the wind blowing in this strange direction again. Soon she would realize it was the dragon that was breathing. The little dragon in her arms was starting to feel uncomfortable. Of course, a little dragon should be running around and testing it's flying skills. But this was a whole different situation. He started to move and break free from Lady Avalar's save arms. For he did not know what danger lay ahead of him. Desperatly she tried to keep him close, but she couldn't stop him. Suddenly he made a loud noise, and Avalar knew this would be her death. The dark dragon started to roar and came closer. Suddenly she felt how he found the tree where she thought it would be save. The dragon rised his claw and sliced the tree in half. Lady Avalar pushed herself and the little dragon to the ground, just in time. The dark dragon roared and made that horrid sound again. Avalar started to run, the open field was the only place she could possibly run to. The little dragon was still in her arms, and he still did not agree. And so he bit her and tried to free himself. But his wings were still weak and he fell to the ground before he could fly away. Avalar stopped running as soon as she discovered the little dragon was no longer in her arms. She grabbed him quickly. The dark dragon was already in front of her and he looked at her with his angry, fire eyes. Lady Avalar fell and all she could do is look at him. She felt like she would turn into stone, so frightend. 'Give it to me' she heard him calling. At first she didn't understand. Humans can't talk to dragons and the other way around either. She was confused, but too afraid to think about it. All she knew was, that some people were gifted to hear the Voice of the Dragons. She just never had the chance to find out if she received this gift. But apparently, she did. The dragon repeated. 'Give it to me, or you will die!' Lady Avalar knew of pride, she knew of brave hearts and sacrifice. 'No!' she screamed. The little dragon was now holding her tide, for once. His eyes were crystal blue, and they looked afraid. Somehow he was important, and that brute of a dragon killed his mother. And so, Lady Avalar was not willing to give him to the dark dragon, she would never forgive herself. No, she would rather die herself, in order to protect him, like his mother protected her. 'You are a very brave human. Far out the bravest I've ever met. Such a shame we didn't had the time to talk much.' The dark dragon rised his claw again. Lady Avalar could see the moon shining upon his death weapon. It would be the last time she saw the moon shining. But suddenly, she heard a new sound, the sound of saviour. All she could see was a white flash, it crashed into the body of the dark dragon. Lady Avalar closed her eyes for a moment, to protect them from the strong wind, passing her by. Suprisingly, the mother of the little dragon survived the deadly attack of the dark dragon. And now she followed the wind to track Lady Avalar and her baby. Dragons were so loyal and yet so deadly. Avalar watched how the two fought in the air. Unfortunalty she noticed that the mother was not as strong as she was before. But the dark dragon still kept it's strength and he was not willing to give up quite yet. He made a turn in the air and flew straight towards Avalar. She saw the claw again, that terrifying claw. She lay down on her back and covered the little dragon, made sure he was save. Then she felt this horrifying pain in her back. Like someone set it on fire, it burned so deeply. She screamed and turned her body. Now she could see the sky clearly. And the mother, still fighting, trying to protect Avalar as well as her hatchling. 'The heart.. the heart..' Avalar managed to say. The mother turned her head and heard what she had said. But the dark dragon didn't. And when he flew towards the mother with an amazingly high speed, she knew this was her chance. She waited, patiently, until he was close enough. And as soon as he was, she dived under his body. Rised her irion claw in the air and it pearched through the thick scales of the dark dragon. Then there was a roaring sound. No one can live without a heart...

You saved my child. I will be forever so greatful.' the mother spoke, while she hugged her child. Her crystal blue eyes made the pain go away for just a second. 'If only there was a way to save you. Perhaps I can...' 'It's okay..' Avalar said. The mother understood. Acceptation can be so easy when it comes to your own death. The mother prepared to leave, to let the Lady rest. 'Wait..' She turned around. 'Stay with me.' Avalar said. The mother nodded and lay down beside her. Her soft fur touched Lady Avalar's face. And then she knew, it was okay to let go. Eventhough the mother knew she was long gone, she stayed with her. Until the final end.. But the silence was disturbed when suddenly a few man, in strong armours, reached the top of the hill. There was one man on a white horse, he was wearing a crown. His face was shocked, angry and yet so sad. 'Kill that dragon!' He shouted angrily. The man around him started to run towards the mother. She quickly grabbed her child and with her final strenght, she managed to fly towards her home.

And past the setting sun, she left Lady Avalar alone. She was the only one who could ever truely explain the death of a queen.

Halfway there

I'm halfway there ;D In other words, I sort of made it to next year, heheh. I got this task I have to finish and a test to make. I think it's gonna be just fine. And the most amazing thing about this is, that m. Bijleveld was actually on my side...
How weird is that o_O

I feel like walking today
I feel like staring at the clouds
I'm lazy today
but it's no one's fault

My feet are slow
they walk next to my bike
Don't feel like using it now
it's how I'm like

On this prettyful morning
the wind goes it's own way
softly blowing
it takes my trouble away

What I'm thinking of now?
my face won't tell you
so no one will know
it's exactly how I will make it through

the days the wind will not blow
to comfort me when it goes wrong
to tell me, that I must know
tomorrow, it'll bring me a beautiful song

I'm still here
walking on the sidewalk
don't care if anyone will hear
the way I sing, the way I talk

Because I'm enjoying the wind, in it's own way
the sun shining even on this day
I'll hold on to the words as you say
'Everything is going to be okay'

I stare at the people today
and ignore the thunder clouds
I'm lazy today
but then, it's not my fault..

My life

So.. I was dead for a while. But now I'm here again. Keyboard on my lap, bored to death. These are the moments, when I think of nothing. Nothing at all. Just... sitting, relaxing, thinking of something to type. And then, it just rolls out of my head. I shall show you what I mean, but I'm not sure if you'll understand. So just relax, like I do, and grab some popcorn, if you want to.

You know what they say
Leave it all behind, make a brandnew start
But still, it needs to play
that beautiful melody, in my heart

Could I escape
from the prison, I built from the things I do
Will you make
this life, something that truely belongs to you

Am I a loner
am I not?
I'm just sitting here
Waiting for the world to stop

And I watch the people, rushing by in a stream
It's not like anything else, I've ever seen

There are days that I could join them
Days that I will let them tell me
That my life, is not something where I can
be everything I ever wanted to be

When will you finally see
that life can be easy
life could be fun
But there will be a time when you'll have to run

From the things you love the most
from the ones so close
And the places you called your 'home'
That's how they speak to me, me alone

So I'm sitting here, making this noice
I'm crying my heart out
When I suddenly hear this voice
Like someone is singing out loud

And I hear this wonderous melody
playing with the rithim of my heart
Through my tears, someone showed me
that this life, is more than a new start

It is more than singing in the rain
more than any complain
It is more than knowing enough
it is Your everlasting love

Like a star

Time to update?
Time to update?

Well.. maybe it is time to update..
And because some prefer me to do it in Dutch, -sigh- oh well.. I guess I could do that. Only once, though. Only once! Remember that..

-couch, couch- Okay.. hier gaan we dan. Nederlands, goed. I can do this. Aaah, maybe not. Gonna try it anyway.

Onzichtbaar bent? Of misschien zelfs wel dood O_o Een man, genaamd Guy, zit in hetzelfde schuitje.
Guy is getrouwd, met Marja (sorry for the Marja's under ons), een bazige, chagarijnige, bemoeial.
'Nou, bedankt.
Bestuurder opslag dood.. Guy Manson..'
En toen gebeurde het. Guy was versteend.
Eenzaam..

Inevitable Truth

Hello, faithful friends :)
Ah, I love those moments. The moments when my creative mind takes control..
Hmm.. yeah, sometimes I just lay down on my cosy, soft bed, and I begin to think. I have this notebook where I write all my (mostly short) stories down. It's very fun to read it sometimes, when I'm bored or something...
Oh, look at this. This is a story that just popped into my head. So, I wrote it down, at february 7, to be accurate ;) It's kinda.. harsh.. Well, you'll find out :P

She sighed.
'What a day.' she said as she sat down and looked at me.
'How was yours?'
I was so busy with my thoughts, that I barely heard her question.
'What is it?'
I looked in her eyes. I can't believe I did it, I still can't believe it. How could I have possibly done that to her? After all those years. I couldn't keep it a secret. My heart would burn from the desire to tell someone. Maybe I should just say it? Would she understand?
'Chris, what's wrong?' she asked, as she lay her hand on my shoulder.
I felt her small hand. The one I used to hold, the one I used to kiss. Will it ever be the same?
'There's nothing. I'm sorry, I'm just tired. I couldn't sleep the whole night.'
She smiled. 'I don't blame you. All those exams we need to study. Sometimes it's just too much. I guess that's way college goes. How about some tea?' she walked to the small kitchen.
I couldn't watch her, not anymore. It was just too painful.
'No, thanks. I'd better go and study those exams. I would rather survive college than study to death.'
I heard her cute laugh as I walked to to door.
'I'll make sure you'll survive.' she said with a grin.
I walked out the door. I need some time alone, to think about things. And as I was in my room, I started to think.
I loved her. And I didn't want to lose her. I was so confused. How did this happen, why did it happen? Why couldn't I just turn back time, or pretend that it never happend?
Someone knocked on my door. Two green eyes, with golden patches, stared at me. Her long, brown hair covered her shoulders.
'Chris?'
she said as she sat down next to me, on the bed. Somehow this didn't feel right. I had a strange feeling aobut this. I looked at my feet. I couldn't face her.
'What's wrong with you? You've been... so sad lately. YOu act like you've done something wrong.'
How did she know that? She answered my question.
'We've been together for three years now. I can tell. That look in your eyes.. You did something wrong, didn't you? Did you mess up something?'
I sighed. I couldn't keep this for myself. She would find out sooner or later.
'Oh, come on. Tell me. It's not like you cheated on me or something, right?'
My heart was frozen. She said it. There was no way out.
'Oh, my ...'
She stood up and looked at me. The tears in her eyes.
'You...'
'Susan, I..'
'You cheated on me. I can't believe it. You cheated on me!'
I grabbed her hands.
'I'm sorry...'
'For how long?'
The tears streamed down her cheeks.
'Susan.'
I tried to calm her down.
'I'm sorry. Now that I look at you, I can't believe I did that. I love you, you know that. Right?'
I let go of her hands. She slowely nodded no, as she did a few steps backwards. Then she ran away.
'Susan!' I screamed.
I would never see her again...

The Beginning

In the beginning, there was nothing.
Just an empty room.

Then, this guy showed up, and he thought:
'Oh my, is this an empty room!'
The guy was extremely creative, so he decided to show his creativity, and create something!
First he made something round. (he loves round things)
Then he painted it, added a few things, removed a few things, and voilá!
'Perfect.' he said joyfull.
For a day or two, he looked at it. He realized he missed a few things. First of all, it was way to dark in there.. So he grabbed a torch and hang it up. 'Hmm.. No, that's not right.' He took the lamp from the torch, changed it until it was round and hang it up again.
'That's the way I like it!' And so he continued. Another round-thingy was added. Then he went out for lunch and thougth about his project. And when he came back, he was full of ideas! So full, his lunch almost came out again! So, quickly he started to work again. He would make tiny little things that could live on his first round-thingy he made! Yes, and he named it 'Earth'. Why? Because earth is the same word for 'sand', and sand are actually little, tiny, microscopical ROUND stones! 'Hah!' he shouted, and started to make the creations that would live on his, so-called Earth.
First he came up with the most fantastic creations! Small, big, fuzzy, scaled everything you can ever think of, he made it.
But, still he was missing something.. 'All these creations, who will look after them when I go out for a holiday?'
'Perhaps, someone like me. Yes! But different, they all need to be different, and round.' But soon he figured out that round-things weren't always the best option. So, he changed a few things. And on day seven he had created his most wonderful and amazing creation he had ever seen! It looked like him, but still it was different. It was perfect! And he brought it to live.
But, the poor little guy was just as lonely as the creator. He knew the creation needed someone his size, someone who would keep him compagny. A she. A pretty she, a very attractive she! He made her, and she looked like him too, but she was different. And he gave them names.
'They shall be known as 'humans'.' he said.
'And the very first human I made, yes you little fellow, you shall be a 'male'. And you shall be a 'female'. And you shall live together, happily ever after :D'
But the female said: 'But I want to have children! What if my child will be a female too? Then who will run to you as you call 'Female! Come to me!'.'
'Oh boy, I sure hope she won't get more creative then me.' the creator thought. 'Very well then. You shall receive names. You male, your name shall be Adam. And you, female, your name shall be Epe.'
'What about Eve?' she asked.
The creator sighed. 'Alright then. Eve it is. I need a holiday.' So he grabbed his stuff, but discovered he was not quite finished. 'What will we eat?' Adam asked. The creator jumped in the air. He had almost forgot! So he made a few round this, that looked pretty eatable and gave them to Adam and Eve. And when he burried them and let it rain, a tree would grow, carrying more round things to eat! 'Perfect.' he said once again. And to prefent the humans from complaining he filled the holes in the Earth with water, so they could drink.
Now, the creator was so tired. But he loved his humans so much, he had to move on. Though, he would make it a little more easy. He made a thousand, miljion, triljion, round-thingies. Big and small and he devided them around the Earth. 'What's with all the round stuff?' Eve asked annoyed. 'I think he loves round stuff, honey.' Adam answered.
Now the creator could finally leave for his holiday. 'Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone. Like eating poisonous round thingies. It's not good for you. There could be a worm in it.. or something.'
Then he closed the door and left. 'Perfect.' he wispered.
